Advocacy

ALRM contributes to a wide range of law and justice topics and reforms, both at state and national levels, to pursue and promote the legal, cultural, economic, political and social rights of the Aboriginal people of South Australia.

ALRM is a member of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services (NATSIL) and is a member of the Law Society of South Australia. ALRM is recognised across the legal and community sectors and is often invited to provide cultural advice and guidance with respect to legislative, practice or process change.

ALRM’s major aim is to advance the legal interests of Aboriginal people in South Australia, especially those Aboriginal people detained or in custody, and to ensure that those interests and rights are protected by the law and not adversely affected by abuse or misuse of any powers under the law.
